How Ghana’s First K-pop Fan Concert Unleashed the MC in Didi

When Jaese Presents SURAN Live in Ghana happened, it did more than bring a Korean artist to a Ghanaian stage. It quietly launched a new host into the spotlight. For Diana Atta Sackitey, known to many as Didi, the concert marked her first official hosting gig and a defining moment in her journey within Ghana’s growing Korean culture space.

Didi’s relationship with Korean culture started at home. She recalls being introduced to Korean dramas by her mother around 2009, beginning with the historical series Jewel in the Palace. Through these dramas, Didi developed a deep appreciation for Korean and Asian culture.

Over time, Didi’s appreciation and passion evolved into purpose. About four years ago, she began creating K-pop and K-drama content, blending lifestyle commentary tailored specifically for a Ghanaian and largely African audience. Her goal was to act as a bridge between Korean entertainment and the Ghanaian audience, making it accessible, relatable, and grounded in the local context.

Didi became active within the Korean culture community in Ghana in 2024. She documented her experience at the annual Korean Week celebration and also covered Seoul in Accra. Her posts amplified Ghana’s K-pop community, leading other Ghanaian fans to discover one another.

In 2025, she returned to cover Korean Week once again and was also positioned as one of the faces of Ghana’s first-ever Korean Pop Fan Concert. These moments further established her as a familiar and trusted voice within the community.

Still, hosting a major live event was uncharted territory. Before Suran Live in Ghana, Didi’s public speaking experience was limited to small church presentations and casual hangouts with friends.

That changed when Jaese Productions selected her to host Suran Live in Ghana. The event was a milestone for the Ghanaian K-community and West Africa at large. For Didi personally, standing on that stage, she was not just a content creator or fan, but the voice guiding the audience through a historic moment.
