Xlimkid Faces the Pressure Head-On on New Single “Plenty Wahala”

Ghanaian trap artist Xlimkid has released a new single, “Plenty Wahala,” a deeply honest track that reflects the realities of everyday life while emphasizing discipline and focus in the face of chaos. The song serves as the first glimpse into his upcoming EP L.O.T.E, setting the tone for a project shaped by personal experiences, resilience, and truth.

Carried by dark, atmospheric production and a composed, introspective delivery, “Plenty Wahala” balances street perspective with emotional depth. Xlimkid opens up about the pressures that come with life, both internal struggles and outside expectations, while maintaining a steady, unshaken mindset. It’s the kind of record that speaks to anyone dealing with noise and uncertainty but choosing to stay grounded.

“Plenty Wahala is real life,” he explains. “There’s always something going on, pressure, distractions, expectations, but it’s about staying focused and not letting it take you off course.” The single marks a key step in Xlimkid’s rollout, offering an early look into L.O.T.E, a project that dives into themes of trauma, growth, self-awareness, and pushing through adversity.

About the Artist.
Xlimkid, born Boakye Henry, is a 21-year-old Ghanaian rapper and vocalist from Kumasi (Esereso), carving out a distinct space with his blend of trap, soul, highlife, and Afrobeats. His music leans into emotion, shaped by personal experiences like his parents’ separation, making it both raw and relatable.

A Cancer by star sign, he channels feeling into every record, using music as both outlet and escape. Introduced to hip-hop by his older brother, he describes his sound as “melodic trap,” balancing pain-driven storytelling with themes of love, ambition, and self-growth. Switching seamlessly between English and Twi, Xlimkid connects across audiences while maintaining a strong, fashion-forward identity that sets him apart visually and sonically.

He gained wider attention after appearing on O’Kenneth’s Pain In Glory (The Tape), with standout track “Lonely Road” landing on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Chart and earning a co-sign from Lil Durk. He’s also collaborated with Sarkodie on “Trauma” and the “Valley of Trappers” remix. On stage, he’s already proven his presence, performing at major events like Rapperholic, Revival Concert, and Tidal Rave. With growing international recognition, including a nod from Rolling Stone Africa, Xlimkid is emerging as one of the voices shaping Ghana’s new wave.
